Thank you for visiting my website.  My name is Martin Aplin and I am a Southampton-based woodworker, keen to share with you some of the furniture and other decorative items I make in my well equipped workshop.

I am a regular contributor of articles to 'Good Woodworking' magazine and my first article, a set of dining chairs, was chosen as a cover feature for the September 2002 edition.  More recently, I have been making pieces for a new series entitled 'Significant Styles'.  Some of these pieces are for sale, and the details are on the 'Significant Styles' page.

In addition to making the items shown, I undertake carpentry and handyman work (built-in cupboards and wardrobes, replacing stair banisters, replacing skirtings and architraves, hanging doors and most small jobs around the house).  Since November 2005 I have been a member of 'Buy With Confidence', a scheme run by the Trading Standards Office of Southampton City Council.  Trades people accepted in this scheme have undergone a thorough vetting of their financial and criminal record status and are proven to be trustworthy.  I also carry £1 million product and public liability insurance.  Please see the Carpentry/DIY page to see some of these projects.
